I'm not in the kitchen anymore...

When I started this blog I had taken over a small part of my kitchen as my quilting spot. I had everything except my fabric in my little corner of the kitchen and aptly named myself, Kitchen Quilter. Well I had to move from that home and into one that doesn't have a lot of room in the pocket size kitchen. The dining room and living room are one large long combination room and my quilting stuff was quickly taking over both spaces...plus we had just about stop eating at the table because my stuff took up half the table. In this little house I also had the largest bedroom. Three of my daughters share one room, it was a smaller than mine. Three days ago we decided to switch bedrooms around. My sons were staying in their own room, it's the smallest of the bedrooms, but there are only 2 boys in the room so it works. My oldest daughter has as odd shaped room that isn't really a bedroom but it works for her. I had the big room...a room without much storage.

The three middle girls were crammed into a mid size room with lots of storage.
We spent one day getting everything moved around and then I spent another day getting all my quilting stuff put away in actual drawers and in cabinets...including my fabric, it's out of the boxes and plastic totes for the first time.

Not a lot of fabric by some standards (mostly mine), but it's all put away in such an organized way...at least for me and I'm happy with it.

But I think I'm Bedroom Quilter now. I'm going to keep all my piecing work done in my little area of the bedroom, but I'll still be dragging everything to the dining room table when it's time to do some free motion work.

Hexies!

For the last several months, everywhere I visit I've been seeing hexies popping up - kinda like how the butterflies are doing right now. But! I started the hexies almost 4 months ago. My mom came for a visit and got me hooked on them.

Most people are making them a little smaller than the ones I've been making. Mine are measure about 4½". I used to have a lot of them made up.

But...I've been turning them into blossoms! This is my sit in front of the TV, my drag with me everywhere sewing every stitch by hand project. I will be bordering each blossom in white fabric before I hook them together.

I think this one is my favorite. I just love that red fabric!

Butterflies!

My newest fascination started while I was making the rounds of some of my favorite quilt blogs. It was Lori over at Bee In My Bonnet that got me started. Then I found myself following a link from Lori's blog to Amy's blog, Mrs. Schmenkman Quilts and from there I began to think I couldn't live (small exaggeration) without making some of my own butterflies.

I started with pulling out anything and everything I could find that might make some pretty butterflies.

I started last night and after lots of cutting and a couple of mistakes I ended up with 17 butterflies completed and another 58 that are cut out. This morning I counted and found I need a few more fabrics...like only 150 more. Eeek! I'm wondering were I'm going to come up with that many different fabrics. I think I may be using a few of the fabric pieces I vetoed with my first run through my-not-quite-big-enough stash. I think I need about 220 blocks for the size I'm after.

And I'm still sorry that the pictures aren't very good. The lighting is bad and so is the cell phone camera. Tomorrow I am going to have to break down and buy some batteries for the good camera.

An almost finish!

This is something I've been working on for a while and it's almost finished. I still need to quilt it and then bind...yeah, it's almost finished. *laughing* Ashley over at Filminthefridge created an awesome quilt named Sunny Squares and I just loved it - so I created my own. Excuse the bad picture, I used my cell phone to take the picture because my good camera isn't charged and I didn't have batteries.
